2. Contact the Relevant Embassy in Your Country
   Most Asian government scholarships (MEXT, CSC Embassy Track, GKS Embassy Track) are administered through embassies or consulates. Obtain application forms directly from the embassy.
3. Prepare Your Documents
   Academic certificates and transcripts (notarised), IELTS/TOEFL scores, personal statement/research proposal, references, medical certificate, passport copy, and police clearance certificate. Confirm any additional requirements with the scholarship provider.
4. Write a Research Proposal (for graduate scholarships)
   MEXT and CSC require a detailed study/research plan. Identify a potential supervisor at your target Japanese or Chinese university and contact them before applying. A supervisor's acceptance letter significantly strengthens your application.
5. Submit Application Before Embassy Deadline
   Deliver physical documents to the relevant embassy in your home country. Deadlines are strict — late submissions are not accepted.
6. Sit the Embassy Examination / Interview
   MEXT and GKS typically require a written examination (language or general academic) and an oral interview at the embassy. Review past exam papers and practice interview questions.
7. Language Training & Departure
   Most Asian scholarships include a 6–12 month language training programme upon arrival. Visa arrangements are handled by the scholarship body in collaboration with your host university.
